Researchers from the most prestigious European universities will convert Vigo into the capital for Napoleonic studies in March of this year.
Vigo will become the world capital for Napoleonic studies during March with the presence of leading international researchers of the history of the time.
The International Symposium on the Reconquest will be held at the Caixanova Social Centre on the 12th and 13th of March, 2009, with the presence of experts from universities such as Sorbonne from Paris, Oxford, Stirling and Liverpool from the UK.
The list of confirmed participants includes, amongst others: Michael Broers (University of Oxford), Charles Esdaile (University of Liverpool), Alicia Laspra (University of Oviedo), Nuno Leemos Pires (Portuguese historian), Jean René Aymes (University of Sorbonne-Paris), Michael Rapport (University of Stirling-Scotland) and Xosé Ramón Barreiro (University of Santiago).
There will be a simultaneous translation service for the talks on Vigo that will be given by historians and scholars and these will be open to the general public.
