The mayor of Fragoso

Born in the middle of the 18th century in Ourense, Cayetano was already the Mayor of Valle del Fragoso when the French occupied the province of Tui. He was one of the leaders during the Reconquest of Vigo and managed to raise the people in arms against the invaders by acting as the right-hand man of the Abbot of Valadares. He was the authentic sponsor of the Reconquest since he paid for the maintenance of the Galician troops during the siege by using his personal assets. He received the medal of honour awarded by the Supreme Committee. Cayetano died in Alcabre, in 1823.
