IIII POSTER COMPETITION OF THE RECONQUEST BICENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF THE CITY OF VIGO
The aim of this competition is to select a poster that will be used for dissemination and wide coverage of the Vigo 2009 Bicentenary Reconquest celebrations, organised by the Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo with collaboration from the Deputy Mayor’s Office.
All individuals and legal entities can participate in this competition and can present as many posters as they may wish with the sole condition that they have never been published before.
The originals will be printed vertically on paper of dimensions 33 x 47 cm and handed in protected and framed on a rigid support that will permit them to be perfectly exhibited. Techniques used will be within normal limitations and these should facilitate normal photomechanical reproduction.
The Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo will not be responsible for any damage, loss or return of posters sent through third parties.
The Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo shall not be liable for any damage suffered by posters due to transportation, handling, assembly and disassembly if these are to be exhibited. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you hand in the posters in cardboard format, featherweight board format or similar and avoid using glass, methacrylate, frames, etc.

The Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo will correct any mistakes that appear in the text and amend any change of dates that may occur. It also reserves the right to modify or replace the logo that appears in the original poster as well as change its location within the final composition of the poster when published.
The posters will be presented in the offices of the Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo, at calle Oliva número 12 bajo from 18:00 to 20:30 hours. The period for submission is from 3rd December, 2008 to 9th January, 2009. Posters received after this date and time announced will not be considered, whatever be the cause of the delay.

You will be given a receipt for posters delivered in person, which shall be submitted when the poster is returned. Those sent through third parties will be returned to the author after the competition if they had requested so.
If unsuccessful authors have not retrieved their posters from the office after 29 calendar days of the date of award of the competition prize, then it will be construed that the authors have renounced the same and the Association will be free to dispose them without any recourse to rights, claims or compensation whatsoever. All transportation expenses for sending or receiving posters will be at the expense of the participants.
Posters will be delivered without any author’s signature, with a pseudonym written on the reverse and with a sealed envelope affixed to the reverse of the poster with the words of the pseudonym written on it. The envelope will contain a typewritten note with the following information: name & surname of author, address, telephone number and fiscal identification number (NIF/CIF).
A first prize of 1,000 € has been established for the winning poster and there will be two consolation prizes of 500 € each.
These prizes will be declared void by the judges if it is decided that none of the posters presented for the competition are adequate to announce the 2009 Bicentenary Reconquest celebrations of the City of Vigo and the Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo will then resolve the issue.
The winning poster will be the property of the Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo and therefore the author irrevocably assigns the right to print or reproduce the work either partially or in any other manner, size or medium as well as to use the work for advertising purposes and therefore make the corresponding modifications or transformations to adapt the same to the media, techniques or sizes needed.
The Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo reserves the right to organise public exhibitions with all or part of the posters presented at the competition at venues, dates and times that will be determined at a future date. Therefore, posters should be withdrawn by the authors themselves or by their representatives within a period of 30 calendar days after the end of the exhibition. The competition jury shall decide which works are to be included in the exhibition.

Member: Xesús López, Councillor for Culture
Secretary: Technician appointed by the Resident’s Association from the Old Quarters of Vigo
The president is empowered to resolve and decide on any issues that may arise including a tie of contestants.
Participation in this competition means acceptance of all of its rules. The decision of the jury will be final and binding with no recourse to appeal.
